•• If you are wondering what that red soup at the center of the obento, is “Pappa al Pomodoro”, a traditional dish from Tuscany, more precisely from Florence.

Is a poor dish, part of the “farmer food culture” made simply of stale bread, tomatoes, onion, garlic, and basil.
Super simple and super delicious, and if you have some old hard bread in your kitchen, is the recipe for you.

I studied its history during University (my teacher of “History of cuisine” was also some Florence) and was one of my favorite dishes in my previous work (I used to work in a kitchen environment).

I am always surprised about how food can bring back good memories. I love it.

ps: I think I am the first one eating this dish with chopstick. 🤣

Today oven to simple white rice (I always need it in my obento), pappa al pomodoro, salad with grilled mushrooms, salad and sweet black beans.
