Should you ðððð ð ððð in Japan?ð
The simple answer is: it dependsðââïž
In most popular cities in japan, youâll be fine without one! The trains and buses are super efficient & mostly never late ð BUT not all places are like Tokyo & Kyoto.
For the longest time, Iâd hear my friends say âyou really need a car in Okinawaâ and I was determined to get around without one when I went on my tripð ââïž
BUT I WAS WRONGð¥µ
In places like Okinawa, things are super spread out & the buses are on island time ð€ we tried to pick a spot that was central but even one trip via bus (to churaumi aquarium) was EXHAUSTING.
ðHereâs a mini list of my top 3 places I WISH I HAD A CAR:
ð Okinawa-there is A LOT you can only access by car. & buses were late 98% of the time ð
ðŒHokkaido-Sapporo has pretty good public transport, but as soon as you try to leave the city, the buses are infrequent
ð¿Yakushima (we actually did get a car last minute & it was a must)
Do you have an international drivers license? Youâll need one in Japan! ð
