Hatsumōde (初詣, hatsumōde) is the first Buddhist temple or Shinto shrine visit of the Japanese New Year. Many visit on the first, second, or third day of the year as most are off work on those days. – We, once again, did not partake in Hatsuhinode (watching the first sunrise) because toddler life, but just like last year we visited a shrine on January 2nd. It was quite rainy but it was still a beautiful visit, we were able to get the Year of the Tiger ema 🐅, and we got some delicious food from the stalls to bring home for dinner. Happy New Year!
