Watching the Koinobori 🎏 with my little guy. Happy early (Japanese) Children’s Day, Bran!
.
Koinobori (鯉のがり) 🎏, meaning “carp streamer” in Japanese, are carp-shaped windsocks traditionally flown in Japan to celebrate Children’s Day (Kodomo no Hi, 子䟛の日) Children’s Day takes place on May 5, the last day of Golden Week. Landscapes across Japan are decorated with koinobori from April to early May, in honor of children for a good future and in the hope that they will grow up healthy and strong. The carp was chosen as the symbol of Children’s Day because the Japanese consider it the most spirited fish, full of energy and power to fight its way up rapidly-flowing streams.
.
Shoutout to @amariespassport for telling me about this park! We stopped by one of the bridges as well, but this was a great spot for letting Brandon run around for a bit!
