Arimatsu tied-dyed textile was born more then 400 years ago in Edo ( current Tokyo ) in the Edo era. Its patterns are made by tying thin strings to make those small circles. Itâs a very time-consuming process.
Arimatsu has been loved since then until this modern time.

Traditional Yaeyama textiles has 5 & 4 square shaped sequent patterns on them.
Thatâs because 5 sounds like â alwaysâ, and 4 sounds like â world/ life â in Japanese. So it means â For forever â.
