Growing up, being different was not a popular thing to do throughout my school years. You weren’t cool unless you wore big name-brand clothing that was currently in style. One major example that comes to me is how we used to keep tags on clothes or labels on caps to show everyone that it was authentic.
Looking at current trends, it seems that the contrary is true. Being unique is presenting to the world what you have to offer. There are big brands and pop culture products available, but you must put your own unique spin.

幼少の頃、人と違うことをするのは、学生時代を通じて人気のあることではありませんでした。今流行の有名ブランドの服を着ていないと、カッコ悪いと思われていたのです。例えば、洋服のタグやキャップのラベルは、それが本物であることを示すために取っておいたものです。
今のトレンドを見ると、その逆のような気がします。ユニークであることは、自分が持っているものを世の中に提示することです。ビッグブランドやポップカルチャーの商品はありますが、自分なりの工夫をすることが必要です。
